Chapter 1 Getting Started
Jaguar Manager runs within Sybase Central. Use Jaguar Manager to configure EAServer and to define and deploy software components and packages.
EAServer must be running before Sybase Central can connect to it.
EAServer and Jaguar Manager must be the same version You can connect to EAServer version 4.1.1 from Jaguar Manager version 4.1.1. You cannot connect to earlier versions of EAServer from Jaguar Manager version 4.1.1, and you cannot connect to EAServer version 4.1.1 from earlier versions of Jaguar Manager.
To use Jaguar Manager, you must be the jagadmin user or belong
to the Admin role. If you are connecting for
the first time, use jagadmin
as
the user name and leave the password blank. For additional security, you
can establish a password for the jagadmin user. See "Administration password and
OS authentication".
For additional information on EAServer administrative privileges, see "Security Administration Tasks" in the EAServer Security Administration and Programming Guide.
Jaguar Manager is a plug-in for Sybase Central. You must start Sybase Central first, then start the plug-in from within it.

Starting Sybase Central in UNIX
Once the Sybase Central screen appears, you can start Jaguar Manager. Jaguar Manager logs errors and other messages to the $JAGUAR/bin/jagmgr.log file.
Upgrading from EAServer version 3.6.1 or earlier If you are upgrading from EAServer version 3.6.1 or earlier, you must change the password from the default after installing 4.1.1. The default password is null (that is, a zero-length string). The jagadmin password is not preserved because the location and encryption format for the password have changed. To set the jagadmin password, see "Administration password and OS authentication".
Starting Jaguar Manager
jagadmin
as
the user name. Specify the host name or IP address, verify the EAServer
port number, and click Connect. The machine name or IP address and
port number correspond to the EAServer host entry and IIOP port
number defined in the listener.
Sybase Central allows you to disconnect Jaguar Manager from a server so that you can connect to another server, or reconnect to the same server, without restarting Jaguar Manager.
